Akeem D. Rowe is a Senior Associate in Lex Caribbean’s Barbados-based Commercial Litigation, Restructuring and Insolvency Department. He joined Lex Caribbean in 2024, after several years of experience in civil and commercial litigation at another Barbados law firm. In his current position, Akeem advises and represents clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious civil and commercial matters and holds particular interest in intellectual property and employment law.
Akeem graduated from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados in 2017 where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree with Honours. In 2019, he obtained an Intellectual Property Law Certificate from the Intellectual Property Office of Trinidad and Tobago, LexisNexis® Basic and Advanced Research Certificate from LexisNexis® in addition to a Mediation Certificate and his Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School. Akeem was also awarded the Barbados Bar Association’s Prize for the Best Performance by a Barbadian student and was placed on the Principal’s Honour Roll at the Hugh Wooding Law School. In 2022, Akeem went on to obtain his Master of Laws in Intellectual Property Law from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados.
Outside of law, Akeem was recognised by Lions Club International and awarded the designation “Melvin Jones Fellow” for his dedication to humanitarian services as President of the Leo Club of Barbados East and was also designated as the Leo New Voice of Leadership for his dynamic and innovative contribution in leadership in the 2020/2021 Lionistic Year.
