GCs get top role in hiring law firms

General counsel are still given the main responsibility in selecting external law firms, according to the General Counsel Excellence Report 2013.

The report, published by Global Legal Post, says that 'general counsel is seen as the most responsible for selecting law firms, according to 80 per cent of respondents'. In a chapter produced in association with Roca Junyent, the research shows that only 4 per cent say the CEO has the final word; 2 per cent say it is the chief financial officers; and 5 per cent 'see procurement as leading the way'.
