Baker Botts sweeps eight-partner team from Norton Rose Fulbright

US firm Baker Botts has snatched an eight partner Fulbright team from Dubai following the June merger of the UK's Norton Rose and US law firm Fulbright & Jaworski.

The newly merged firm will retain the original Norton Rose Dubai office whilst the lawyers from Fulbright's Dubai office will join Baker Botts today, reports The Lawyer.
The team includes Fulbright’s Dubai founding partner John Lonsberg and gives Baker Botts a 40 strong Middle Eastern team with offices in Dubai, Riyadh and Abu Dhabi
According to Legal Week, those joining Baker Botts include Mark Bisch, Jonathan Sutcliffe, Joseph Colagiovanni, Hassan Elsayed, Richard Devine and Philip Punwar in Dubai, and Sam Eversman in Riyadh.

Extensive experience

In a statement, Baker Botts managing partner Andrew Baker said that the team had extensive experience in the region over a wide range of industry segments and practice areas which goes back for more that 30 years. 'They are frequently referred to as 'the region's lawyers', and we are pleased to have them join the firm and our Middle East team.'  Robert Jordan, former US Ambassador to Saudi arabi and partner in charge of the firm's Middle East practice added': This group of talented and experienced lawyers will cement our position as one of the dominant legal forces in the region.'
