Established in 1827, Remfry & Sagar has pioneered intellectual property law in India. We are arguably the second oldest IP practice in the world and also among the largest IP firms in the country. A team of dynamic lawyers (110+) and over 160 professional staff offers legal services across the full spectrum of intellectual property. In addition, a group of corporate law experts advise on wide ranging commercial matters. About 15-20% of all inbound IP work finds its way to the Firm. More than 8000 clients – including leading Fortune 500 companies, policy makers, government enterprises and start-ups - in over 70 countries are testimony to our leading capabilities. Trademarks, patents, designs, copyright, geographical indications, domain names, unfair competition and custom’s issues lie at the core of the Firm’s practice with equal competence in serving prosecution and litigation needs.

Remfry & Sagar also represents several clients from the luxury industry. From apparel and accessory manufacturers, to fashion and design houses, renowned watch manufacturers and famed jewellery brands - through its specialised team of fashion and luxury lawyers the Firm offers comprehensive legal services for navigating the multi-disciplinarian legal issues arising in the fashion and luxury industry.

Our technological infrastructure is state-of-the-art and includes an award winning case management software. Also, the Firm’s records are fully digitized and its network backbone runs a Citrix environment on high end servers to ensure integrity and confidentiality of all business information. We offer practical and customized solutions – our endeavour being to partner in our clients’ progress. Underpinning it all is our uncompromising insistence on the highest standards of quality and professional ethics.

Clientele drawn from diverse industries and extensive involvement in global IP fora including INTA, ECTA, AIPLA, AIPPI, APAA, FICPI, ITMA, LES and PTMG lends us a broad world view and deep insight into the demands of modern business. The Firm’s long history has fostered close associations across geographies facilitating easy fulfilment of a client’s global IP needs. That said, we would like to highlight that our expertise in service is particularly strong in the Indian subcontinent – we have a strong network of associates in the region and are able to function as a one-stop shop for our clients to assist with a complete range of IP services in neighbouring jurisdictions including, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Myanmar and the Maldives. Notably, our efforts towards crafting seamless IP solutions do not conclude with our clients; we engage continually with policy makers to contribute towards a larger change in India’s IP milieu.

Our core values - innovation, integrity, efficiency and undisputed quality – have endured for nearly two centuries. Conscious of this legacy, we look to build on our heritage in new ways and remain at the forefront of guiding innovation in the 21st century.

Remfry & Sagar’s principal office is in Gurugram, with branch offices in Chennai, Bengaluru and Mumbai.
