A quarter of lawyers doubt abilities of top managers

One in four lawyers in law firms are unconvinced about the ability of top management to lead the firm through the current changing legal environment, according to the Australasian Legal Practice Management Association (ALPMA).

Commenting on the research which produced this result, APALMA president told Lawyers Weekly: 'There are plenty of examples of where firms are fairly aggressive in responding to change in the marketplace, but it is also certain that law has traditionally been very slow to change. I think for some firms that fall into that latter category there will be challenging times ahead.'  The research, conducted with LexisNexis, also uncovered concerns about lack of career opportunities for young lawyers.
