ACC Alliance partner Jordan Lawrence’s Safe Standards for retention helps corporate counsel establish document retention rules. Jordan Lawrence Executive Vice President Marty Provin said: “Setting policy for records retention is the first step in addressing eDiscovery costs and a host of information governance challenges.”  James Merklinger, Vice President and General Counsel for the ACC said that record retention can be especially difficult for in-house counsel. “Government inquiries, eDiscovery and compliance obligations – the top issues that keep general counsel up at night – begin and end with records, yet establishing sound rules for record retention is frequently a struggle for in-house counsel."
