Beverages giant SABMiller general counsel John Davidson has confirmed that he will be stepping down from the role in six months’ time following a post-acquisition review by new parent company Anheuser-Busch InBev. Following his departure, New York-based AB InBev legal head Sabine Chalmers will take on the role of chief legal and corporate affairs officer for the new company.
Canadian drugmaker Valeant Pharmaceuticals has named Christina Ackermann as its new general counsel at a time of intense regulatory and legal scrutiny for the company. Ms Ackermann joins Valeant after 14 years with eye care company Alcon Laboratories, where she most recently served as senior vice president and general counsel. She will replace outgoing GC Robert Chai-Onn, who is departing the company after more than a decade in its in-house team.
Meanwhile, FSTE 100 software company Sage has appointed Vicki Bradin to the role of general counsel as part of a broader management shakeup. The appointment comes as Sage’s current company secretary and legal director Michael Robinson prepares to retire on 30 September after 14 years in the role. Ms Brandin is leaving her role as associate general counsel for financial services software group Misys to take up the new position at Sage.
Finally, CIT Group has announced that general counsel Robert Ignato will be departing the company before the year is out, while also confirming the recent exit of ethics and compliance head Fred Singer. Mr Ignato will be retiring, while Mr Singer has joined the US unit at Banco Santander. CIT Group has not yet confirmed replacement for either lawyer.
