Valarie Caproni, the former general counsel at the US’s Federal Bureau of Investigation, has been re-nominated to the country’s federal bench. Ms Caproni served as the FBI’s top lawyer from 2003 to 2011, reports the Main Justice web site, before being nominated by President Barack Obama last November. If confirmed, Ms Caproni would fill the seat left open by US District Judge Richard Holwell, who resigned from the bench last February.
Connecticut governor Dannel Malloy has appointed Luke Bronin as his next legal counsel, reports the Connecticut Post. Mr Bronin, who worked on Mr Malloy's unsuccessful 2006 gubernatorial campaign, was most recently deputy assistant secretary for terrorist financing and financial crimes at the US Treasury in Washington DC. Mr Bronin, 33, will replace Andrew McDonald, whose nomination to the state Supreme Court was all but assured earlier this week by Connecticut’s judiciary committee.
California-based international asset management firm TCW Group has appointed Meredith Jackson as executive vice president and general counsel. MarketWire reports that Ms Jackson joins from Los Angeles law firm Irell & Manella, where she has served as a partner and head of the debt finance practice since she joined the firm in 1999. She replaces Michael Cahill, who joined TCW in 1991 and will remain with the business through mid-2013.
