Texas gaming company Multimedia Games has appointed Todd McTavish as senior vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer, and corporate secretary. Mr McTavish joins the Austin-based outfit on 21 January and brings considerable gaming expertise, having most recently served as general counsel at Video Gaming Technologies. The Fort Mill Times reports that Mr McTavish had served as VGT’s corporate legal counsel since 2008, and prior to joining VGT he was vice president of business development and general counsel at D1 Sports Holdings.

Former Skadden partner William Kunkel is the new general counsel at Iowa-based American Equity Investment Life Holding Company, an underwriter of index and fixed rate annuities. Mr Kunkel had worked in Chicago office of the New York white shoe firm until his retirement in June 2102. According to web site Insurance Networking, his practice concentrated on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and other corporate governance and securities matters.

Jennett Hill has joined Indianapolis-based Citizens Energy Group, effective 1 February. According to the DePauw University website, Ms Hill – a 1985 DePauw graduate – joins from international law firm Faegre Baker Daniels, where she was a partner. Before joining Faegre in 2001, Ms Hill worked for IBM for 10 years.

Marcia Seligman has been appointed as the new general counsel for Pearl River Resort. The native American-run resort -- located in Choctaw, Neshoba County, Mississippi -- is owned and operated by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. According to the Neshoba Democrat, Ms Seligman has more than 30 years’ experience in advising a range of corporate clients in various industries, including major food companies, gaming, racing, retail, real estate, and entertainment. Before joining Pearl River, Ms Seligman was the vice president and general counsel at Mohegan Sun Casino and Resort, a successful gaming company and resort owned by the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut.

The Washington DC Board of Ethics and Government Accountability has appointed Stacie Pittell as lead attorney at the city watchdog, reports the Washington Post. The body was created last year as part of recently passed ethics laws following investigations into misconduct by city officials. Ms Pittell was since 2008 the assistant inspector general for investigations at the DC Office of the Inspector General, and inspector general at the New York City Department of Investigation, where she supervised investigations involving city employees and contractors.
