The C&I Group split off from the Law Society earlier in 2013, giving up income from the Society in order to gain independence. But now the Law Society is understood to be beefing up its offering to the in-house training market. It plans a programme of events which will run to an annual conference, networking and courses for both the public and private sector.
'Strong on training'
The C&I Group has about 6,000 members. Its chairman Mark Harvey told The Lawyer: 'The C&I Group is strong on training, whereas the Law Society’s division isn’t. hat’s part of the reason for our independence. The society’s division is just starting to run a few seminars, but it is not doing the big-scale events we do.'
