The firm was the first of several UK legal players to elect to freeze its pay reviews for lawyers and staff in the aftermath of Britain’s vote to leave the European Union in June. BLP has now confirmed that salary reviews have been restarted, with all applicable increases due to come into effect from 1 November. However, the firm has declined to backdate the increases to the original planned review date four months ago. Moving forward, the firm will revert back to its ‘usual review timeline’ for salary increases, which means the next review will occur in July next year.
The move follows in the footsteps of other firms including Addleshaw Goddard, Gowling WLG and Trowers & Hamlins that have lifted Brexit-related pay freezes once regaining confidence after the referendum. Others, such as national firm Bond Dickinson, still have their freezes intact.
