Canadian firms donate to political parties

A list of contributions to the Progressive Conservatives in 2013 includes Can$9,300 from Heenan Blaikie Management Ltd. Osler Hoskin & Harcourt LLP says that it gives equal amounts to the main parties. A spokeswoman says: 'Osler on behalf of its partners supports the democratic process by making contributions on an equitable basis to political parties where that is permitted under applicable law.'  Bennett Jones LLP is one firm that says it does not donate to political parties in Ontario, even though it was founded by R B Bennett, a former Conservative prime minister.
