CC elects M&A specialist as next global head

Matthew Layton, an M&A practitioner with particular emphasis on international and UK leveraged buyouts, has been chosen as Clifford Chance's next global managing partner.

Currently global head of corporate, Mr Layton will take over from David Childs in early 2014. The new head beat Yves Wehrli, head of Paris, and Andrew Carnegie, a real estate finance lawyer.
