London-based Mr Ho is one of eight lawyers at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton who have been selected to move up to the firm’s partnership from 1 January next year, with the other seven slots once again being awarded to US-based lawyers. London has been bypassed for partner promotions for the last two years, with last year’s seven-strong promotion round again including only one lawyer (Moscow’s Mikhail Suvorov) based outside the United States. Of those who have made the cut this year, four are moving up in Cleary Gottlieb’s New York office while a further three are based in Washington DC. In total, the promotions bring the firm’s global partner headcount to 195.
