Client unawareness stifling e-discovery progress

A lack in client understanding of the benefits of introducing new technology is holding back the e-discovery market in Britain, a white paper released today has found.

E-discovery: nervousness affecting growth prospects

Despite near perfect conditions for investment in new technology, APT Search - the UK’s first recruitment specialists fully dedicated to the e-discovery and Litigation Support sectors – found that there is some nervousness attached to the use of innovative tools, such as predictive coding.

However, the research also found the many e-discovery providers are still bullish over their growth prospects and are positioning themselves to take advantage of changes in the market.

Amit Pandit, Managing Director at APT Search commented: ‘Organisations are looking to prepare themselves for better times ahead, whilst defending existing market share and managing potential risks. Consequently, the demand for e-discovery professionals is strong in the UK, with salary levels continuing to rise.

‘Furthermore, these changes in the market are creating new opportunities for people not only in traditional positions, but also creating roles that did not exist before.  As a result employers and candidates need an open mind about how their skills can be deployed within an organisation.’

In continental Europe, the research showed that e-discovery is rapidly developing, creating opportunities for those with language skills, particularly German, French, Italian and Dutch.
