Clyde & Co grew revenue 3% in the year to 30 April 2025 to £854m, marking the 27th consecutive year the UK firm has increased turnover.

The growth followed Clydes upping revenue 10% in FY24 and 20% in FY23 off the back of its merger with UK firm BLM, which went live in July 2022 and added 600 lawyers and almost £100m in revenue.

Meanwhile profits inched up 1.8% to £177.5m, down from 3% growth the year before. The firm did not disclose its latest profits per equity partner (PEP), which grew 4.4% in FY24 to £739k.

The gains lag somewhat behind revenue and profit increases reported by Clydes’ UK rivals so far this financial reporting season, including HFW, which grew its topline 8% to £270.8m, and Kennedys’ 13% gain to £428m

Matthew Kelsall, Clyde & Co’s chief executive officer, commented: “Our commitment to multiyear investment horizons has allowed us to continue to balance investment, profitability and sustained growth.

“We have continued to invest in talent, systems and technology which have enhanced our operational efficiency but crucially, have allowed us to continue to evolve our offering for clients, building global bench strength in our core sectors and across disputes, commercial and regulatory disciplines.”

Clydes pointed to North America as its fastest-growing region, saying it now accounted for 25% of its fee income, up from 21.5% in FY24. The firm said the growth was fuelled by strong client demand alongside the addition of 11 new partners in North America through lateral hires and promotions, with a particular focus on growing a national trial and defence practice.

Meanwhile, the UK’s share of overall revenue remained constant at 46%, as did Middle East and Africa’s (11%), Asia Pacific’s (9%), Europe’s (7%) and Latin America’s (2%).

Over the course of the year, Clydes added 59 new partners globally through lateral hires and internal promotions, including two partners that joined the firm in January through a merger with insurance litigation boutique Tillman Batchelor, in a move that also saw the firm expand into Dallas.

In March, the firm also hired partner Sam Tate in London as global head of its regulatory and investigations practice from RPC, along with his three-strong team.

Clyde’s expansion over the last year also saw it boost its global energy practice with five new partner hires in the UK and Europe and form a partnership with Colombian insurance firm G Herrera Abogados & Asociados.
