Madagascar: improving communication

UK: fund raiser

The London funds team of international law firm Norton Rose advised on three fund-raisings in one day last, boasting its claim to the market-leading position in the listed funds market.
The three funds are Greencoat UK Wind plc, TwentyFour Income Fund Ltd and NB Global Floating Rate Income Fund Ltd.
Greencoat Wind UK is looking to raise £205-£260 million and aims to operate UK wind farms.
Funds partners, Michael Newell and Cathy Pitt led the fund establishment team, with energy projects partners Andrew Hedges and Nick Pincott also advising.
TwentyFour Income Fund is seeking to raise up to £250 million on its IPO, through a placing and offer for subscription accompanied by a 12 month placing programme under which up to a further £250 million could be raised. The Norton Rose team included head of funds, Ian Fox and senior associate Margaret Simcock.
NB Global Floating Rate Income Fund is seeking to raise over £100 million through an issue of Sterling C shares. The Norton Rose team was again led by Ian Fox.

Austria: travel web

Austrian law firm Cerha Hempel Spiegelfeld Hlawati (CHSH) has advised Priceline.com Incorporated on its acquisition of KAYAK Software Corporation.  
The deal sees discount travel web site Priceline acquire 100 per cent of the shares in travel search engine KAYAK by way of a merger of KAYAK with an acquisition vehicle, which is 100 per cent owned by Priceline.
Priceline was advised by CHSH antitrust partner Bernhard Kofler-Senoner. Sullivan & Cromwell acted as lead antitrust counsel.

Italy: TV time

Milan-headquartered law firm Bonelli Erede Pappalardo has been appointed as legal advisor to Cairo Communication Group – a media company based in Milan.
Bonelli Erede Pappalardo will assist Cairo Communication Group during its acquisition of Italian private television channel La7, which is owned by Telecom Italia Media and operated by Telecom Italia.

Madagascar: phone home

French law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel has assisted the Communication Infrastructure Project for Madagascar (PICOM) in the drafting and implementation of a call for tenders relating to the selection of a tower company for the building and operation of telecommunications infrastructures in various areas of Madagascar.
It is hoped the project will lower costs and extend coverage, as well as establishing a cheap, high capacity international link.
Partner Olivier Cousi of Gide Loyrette Nouel's telecommunications, media & technology team in Paris advised PICOM on this call for tenders notice.

Holland: Japanese acquisition

Dutch firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek and London magic circle firm Linklaters took starring roles in Japanese financial services firm ORIX Corporation’s €1.9bn acquisition of Dutch asset manager Robeco Groep from Rabobank.
Linklaters advised ORIX on the deal, which is the Japanese company’s most significant to date, according to The Lawyer. The deal was led by corporate partners Hiroya Yamazaki in Tokyo, Pieter Riemer in Amsterdam and David Holdsworth in London.
Rabobank instructed De Brauw, with Amsterdam-based corporate partners Arne Grimme and Gaby Smeenk leading its team.
A number of other firms – including US firm Davis Polk & Wardwell – were engaged by De Brauw as the global transaction required regulatory filings and merger clearances in a range of jurisdictions.
