DLA Piper is closing its Georgian operations with its 11 strong practice set to jump ship to Dentons. It is the second office closure in a week for DLA Piper following news that its Berlin partner is moving to DWF. The team in Tbilisi, led by partners Otar Kipshidze and Avto Svanidze, will join Dentons on 1 May.  'Our strategy for this region is simple: to be a top firm in all the markets where we are present,' Tomasz Dabrowski, chief executive officer of Dentons Europe, said. 'Our new team in Georgia will build on our strong practices in Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan to further strengthen Dentons’ market leadership in CIS and Central Asia.'

Legacy

The team in Tbilisi brings practice and sector capabilities in litigation, corporate, banking and finance, intellectual property, energy, government and infrastructure. Dentons was among the first international law firms to enter Russia in 1991 and has been present in CEE since the early nineties. With the addition of the Tbilisi office, Dentons will have more than 7800 people in 150 offices across more than 60 countries around the world.
