The world’s largest pizza chain Domino’s Pizza has promoted Ryan Mulally to general counsel, replacing current GC Kevin Morris.

Mulally was previously assistant GC, a position he has held since 2018. He has led the company’s litigation team and also had responsibility for franchise and corporate standards. In his new role, which he will take on from 15 March, he will also serve as corporate secretary.

Mulally’s elevation is part of a trio of management changes, with Joseph Jordan being promoted to chief operating officer and president for Domino’s US business, and Weiking Ng being promoted to executive vice president for international. All three will report directly to CEO Russell Weiner.

Ann Arbor-based Domino’s has more than 21,300 stores in more than 90 markets worldwide, generating more than $19bn of sales in 2024.

Weiner said: “Joe, Weiking and Ryan are talented and respected leaders of our company, and we are extremely fortunate to have such a strong bench of talent to move into these important roles. All three embody our ‘Hungry for MORE’ strategic mindset and I am looking forward to the positive impact they'll continue having on the brand.”

Mulally has been with Domino’s for more than 16 years, originally joining as labour and employment counsel in 2008 before being promoted to director of corporate counsel in 2011. He previously worked in private practice for just under eight years at Dickinson Wright in Detroit.

Morris, meantime, arrived at Domino’s from fitness club owner Equinox, where he spent four years as GC. Domino’s didn’t respond to requests for comment on Morris’s next steps. He was still listed as GC on the company’s website on Thursday (13 March).

In other recent US food-related moves, back in November restaurant franchisor Craveworthy Brands  hired John Silvestri as its inaugural GC from real estate business The John Buck Company.

In May last year, doughnut giant Krispy Kreme hired former Mars lawyer Atiba Adams to head up its legal team, replacing Catherine Tang. Also in May, pizza chain Marco’s Pizza promoted former Subway lawyer Kristin Corcoran to CLO, replacing Todd Watson.
