The Irish firm is set to formally merger with DWF on 1 December, adding 19 new partners and one consultant to the combined practice. C&H Jefferson is a predominantly commercial firm that advises banks, insolvency practitioners and lending institutions across Northern Ireland. The firm also acts on behalf of property developers, retailers and renewable energy operators. DWF managing partner and chief executive officer Andrew Leaitherland commented: ‘The legal market in Northern Ireland is vibrant and rapidly changing, and this merger makes us well equipped to take advantage of the growing number of opportunities it presents for our clients in target sectors.’
Building UK presence
The merger will see current C&H Jefferson managing partner Ken Rutherford join DWF as the firm’s executive partner in Belfast. He said of the tie-up: ‘DWF is a very strong fit for us in terms of culture and approach to legal service, and through this merger we will be able to create new opportunities for our clients with the benefit of DWF’s expansive national footprint, service offerings and growing international remit.’ The Belfast outpost will take DWF’s UK office count to 12 alongside international offices in Dublin, Munich, Brussels, Cologne and Dubai.
