Ex-Reed Smith partner jailed over tax non-disclosure

James Kleier, formerly a partner in both Preston Gates & Ellis (now K&L Gates) and Reed Smith, has been sentenced to imprisonment for 12 months in relation to a decade of non-disclosure of earnings.

James Kleier has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for not filing income taxes. Mattz90

He pleaded guilty to the misdemeanour charge of failing to file a tax return. The Department of Justice said he ‘failed to report any income he earned’ between 1999 and 2010. He was a partner in the two firms during these years. He was a member of the Reed Smith regulatory litigation group. Source: ABA
