Janice Schacter had said that her husband Ira, a partner in Cadwalader, Wickhersham & Taft, had refused to pay for his daughter’s hearing aids but was paying US$215,000 for an engagement ring for his model girlfriend. He was given the ironic title of ‘Lawyer of the Month’ by ‘Above the Law’ and her complaints were deemed to have contributed to a loss in value of his business assets. 

Mutual assault

Judge Laura Drager limited the amount that Mrs Schacter will receive to 17 per cent, saying: ‘In essence, the wife chose to bite the hand that fed her.’ The couple separated in 2007 after both of them were arrested for allegedly attacking the other. Source: ABA
