According to an FBI statement, at some point on his flight from Los Angeles to Houston, Mr Sawyer raised his tray table so that the woman sitting next to him ‘observed his erect genitals protruding out of his pants’.
When the woman changed seats, Mr Sawyer changed his tactics, flashing a flight attendant instead. When the flight attendant told him he was being inappropriate, Mr Sawyer stated: ‘Can’t a guy have his fly undone?’ He then returned to his seat.
Mr Sawyer subsequently pleaded guilty to two counts of lewd, indecent, or obscene acts.
But a quick inspection of the California Bar Journal website suggests inappropriateness may be an on-going problem for Mr Sawyer, as he recently faced disciplinary action after being convicted of two misdemeanour battery charges that occurred inside a courthouse.
According to the publication, Mr Sawyer ‘placed his hand on the buttocks of a Los Angeles Superior Court clerk in a courtroom where he had just appeared. The same day he patted the buttocks of a female deputy district attorney, and about a week later, approached a female security officer from behind and touched her buttocks. He had no prior relationship with any of the women.’
