The firm has signed a lease for 300,000 square feet of office space at 100 Bishopsgate following an HQ hunt which considered several other locations, including 70 St Mary Axe and 3 Finsbury Avenue. The new location is a Brookfield development set for completion in 2018. It is about 25 per cent smaller than Freshfield’s current home on Fleet Street, but the move comes after the firm relocated the entirety of its legal services and back office staff to Manchester last year. It’s current lease at the former headquarters of newspaper The Daily Mail is set to expire in 2021, making this the firm’s likely move-in date at Bishopsgate unless it opts to trigger a break clause.
