Mr Higgins decision to resign from the role makes way for current private equity head Adrian Maguire, who will take over as co-head the sector group in January alongside Frankfurt-based co-head Markus Paul. GFI is one of Freshfields’ eight sector groups and covers private equity funds, pension funds, infrastructure funds, sovereign wealth funds and alternative capital providers. An esteemed private equity lawyer, Mr Maguire led the Freshfields team that advised Advent International on the sale of celebrity rehabilitation clinic Priory to Arcadia for £1.3bn earlier this year. Mr Higgins, who has held the co-head role for six years, will remain in full-time practice with Freshfields.
