Mr Milliner was speaking at the Australasian Legal Practice Association Summit in Sydney. He said, according to Lawyers Weekly: 'We’ve seen an increase in in-house legal departments as a better and cheaper way of doing things, and that increase in in-house legal departments isn’t just influenced by cost ... during the GFC [global financial crisis] there was pressure on corporate businesses [and] it actually drove in-house legal departments much closer to the corporate function, and that has created a different relationship than that which existed in 2008.'
