Mr Fishman joined the Magic Circle firm from Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel in 2010, one year after it launched its US litigation practice in New York. He will head up Goodwin’s own commercial and financial litigation practice in New York. Among his recent clients at Freshfields have been JP Morgan in the claims brought against it by investors in connection with the collapse of the Bear Stearns hedge funds, and the defence of a class action lawsuit brought against Madoff in the wake of the global financial crisis. He is the latest in a string of high-profile partners to leave Freshfields in the last six months, following former executive partner Michael Lacovara’s departure to Latham & Watkins and corporate partner Doug Bacon’s defection to Kirkland & Ellis.
