Reports surfaced earlier this week that global megafirm Dentons is in talks to potentially acquire the embattled KWM Europe, and in doing to knock out a major Chinese competitor from the London market. However, several publications have since reported that Florida-founded international firm Greenberg Traurig is also considering making a play for the struggling verein firm. While Dentons has simply declined to confirm that merger discussions are taking place, a spokesperson for Greenberg Traurig was considerably more adamant in their denial yesterday: ‘We have no interest and have not had one conversation relating to the acquisition of KWM’s EUME business, though we wish their lawyers and staff well,’ they said. ‘Greenberg Traurig is an opportunistic firm, and we always look at situations where our objectives of excellence, cultural fit, value and financial discipline can be advanced.’
