The shake-up will see Maher promoted to the role of global vice-chair, with current global practice chair Patricia Menéndez-Cambó and regional operations chair Richard Edlin also set to hold vice-chair positions. Mr Maher will retain his role as London chair, but the firm’s UK arm – which has been called Greenberg Traurig Maher since its inception in 2009 – will now operate under the shortened title Greenberg Traurig. ‘It’s time. It lasted longer than I thought it would. It was a transitional thing. It was my decision and it’s the right decision. I’ve got my name back!’ joked Mr Maher in industry publication Legal Business. According to a statement from the firm, the decision is ‘intended to emphasise the unified and collaborative nature of the firm in today’s world.’
