Los Angeles law firm Latham & Watkins has made up 18 lawyers to its partnership and appointed 21 as counsel in a move to beef up its offering across several sectors.

Boston-based law firm Choate Hall & Stewart has announced that all partners from the private client department of New England rivals Wilmer Hale will join its wealth-management group.
Business Week reports the lawyers will move at the beginning of next month, with associates and other staff accompanying partners Jennifer Snyder, Nan Giner, Michael Fay and Brian Monnich.

New York-headquartered Davis Polk & Wardwell has appointed prominent mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance lawyer Will Pearce as a partner in the law firm’s London office.
Mr Pearce joins Davis Polk from the London office of Herbert Smith Freehills, where he has been a partner since 2006, according to Business Wire.

United Arab Emirates lawyer Abdulwahid Al Ulama has joined the Abu Dhabi office of New York law firm White & Case.
With more than 12 years’ experience in both industry and the legal profession, Mr Al Ulama joins the firm’s global mergers and acquisitions practice, becoming, according to White & Case, the first Emirati partner to join any of the major international law firms currently active in Abu Dhabi.

Scandinavian law firm Roschier has boosted its banking and finance practice by appointing Dan Hanqvist to its Stockholm office as finance and regulatory counsel. Mr Hanqvist joins from Vinge, where he was a derivatives and finance specialist.
Erwan Berthelot is set to join the Geneva office of New York-based law firm White & Case as ‘of counsel’. He joins from a major international trade association, where the lawyer acted as general counsel and head of the legal department. He specialised in World Trade Organisation law and litigation.
