The comments were made to the makers of documentary 'India's Daughter' which was based on the 2012 gang rape and killing of the student. The BBC documentary, directed by Leslee Udwin, was shown this month. The two lawyers - ML Sharma and AK Singh - are acting for the four defendents.
Sense of fear
The Supreme Court Women Lawyers Association was outraged by the comment from Mr Sharma on women having no place in Indian culture and by others made by him and by Mr Singh. The Association petitioned the Supreme Court, saying: 'The comments made by these lawyers are biased, scandalous, inhumane and unjustifiable and these comments have caused sense of fear and insecurity among the women lawyers in the Supreme Court.' The Supreme Court has now asked the two men for a response. Source: NDTV
