Jones Day has confirmed that its London-based newly qualified solicitors will now be taking home £85,000 per year, up from £78,000 previously. Trainees at the firm will also be getting a boost, with salaries lifting from £43,000 to £45,000 for first year trainees and from £48,000 to £50,000 for those in their second year. The boost comes just days after Jones Day posted a lackluster 68 per cent trainee retention rate in the City for the autumn round, and elevates the Ohio-based firm onto the same tier as Magic Circle outfits Allen & Overy and Freshfields for NQ pay.
