The firm’s partnership was informed at a meeting on Friday (9 December) that discussions are now underway with several interested parties. A spokesperson for KWM Europe confirmed: ‘King & Wood Mallesons EUME is pleased to confirm that is has received a number of indicative purchase offers. The management team and its financial advisers have reviewed these and are now entering into detailed discussions with a small number of parties.’ The spokesperson said that there will be further comment on the progress of merger negotiations until they are complete.

KWM Europe has been scoping out its options since the collapse of the firm’s planned £14m recapitalisation and the later failure of a conditional bailout offer extended by the verein’s China-based partnership. Dentons and Winston & Strawn are among those firms who have expressed interest in acquiring some or all the business, while Greenberg Traurig has denied rumours that it is also circling the flailing firm.
