Legacy Mallesons Stephen Jacques lawyer Stuart Fuller has held the role of global managing partner even since the 2012 merger of the Australian firm with legacy Chinese firm King & Wood. While news of his departure comes at a turbulent time for the firm, Mr Fuller reportedly signaled his wish to resign from the role several weeks ago. He is set to return to the firm’s practice in Sydney, as KWM begins the process of appointing a new global head.
Partners meeting today
Partners from KWM’s embattled European business are set to meet in London today to discuss the firm’s finances in the wake of its stalled £14m recapitalisation plans and a string of high-profile partner exits. Newly-elected European managing partner Tim Bednall and senior partner Michael Cziesla travelled to China last week to discuss financial support options for the firm’s legacy SJ Berwin arm, which currently carries more than £30m in debt. Proposals for support from the Asia Pacific branch are set to be discussed today.
