Latham advised San Francisco-based Lucasfilm – which is 100 per cent owned by director George Lucas – on its acquisition by Disney. The stock and cash deal will see Disney pay half of the $4.05 billion (£2.5bn) in cash and issue around 40 million shares.

New Trilogy

Latham fielded a corporate deal team led from the firm’s Silicon Valley office by partners Christopher ‘Kit’ Kaufman, Tad Freese and Jamie Leigh, with associates Chad Rolston, Abtin Jalali and Charlotte Chang.
Skadden advised Disney which plan to release another trilogy of Star Wars films, beginning with Episode 7 in 2015.
