Law firm inundated with phone calls in apparent scam

A Florida law firm has has been inundated with telephone inquiries after an apparent scammer used a caller ID number that routes phone calls to the firm.

The James Hoyer law firm in Tampa, Florida started receiving the telephone calls on 1 December. The apparent scam seems to be a way of getting the credit or debit card numbers of members of the public. People are told that they can ring a telephone number to claim a prize and if they ring back the number from which they seem to have been called, they are routed through to the law firm.
