One in four of the UK’s Top 100 law firms now have one or more non-executive director on their board, in a growing trend amongst the top firms to bring in outside management expertise. With law firms seeing rapid growth over the last two decades and a greater number breaking through the £1 billion turnover level, law firms are beginning to adopt corporate management structures similar to the equivalent sized stock market listed companies.Law firms in the Top 50 were far more likely to have a non-executive director on their board, with 32 per cent of firms in the Top 50 having a non-executive director on their board compared to 16 per cent in the next 50.The research was carried out by executive search firm Edward Drummond.
