Sentencing Erol Incedol, Mr Justice Nicol said: 'The potential for such bombs to cause death, injury and destruction are obvious. The fear, panic and terror which explosions also bring are often a deliberate part of the terrorist's ambition.' Much of the trial has been subject to reporting restrictions.

The judge disclosed that Mr Incedol had learnt about weapons and explosives in a safe house at the Syrian-Turkish border. Mr Incedol was cleared by a jury last month of plotting to make a terrorist attack. The jury took 27 hours to make its decision of whether the Turkish-born student was guilty or not of planning an attack or an assassination. Source: BBC
