Jeffrey Witt left his practice in October 2013 and went off to the Philippines, Australia, the UAE, Jordan, Turkey and the UK. He had just obtained US$100,000 against his mother’s house by organising for one of his clients to impersonate her. He was then given a $1m malpractice judgement for abandoning the practice. In March he came back from Istanbul, planning to visit his girlfriend in New York. He said that threats and beatings from a client, as well as his own depression, had helped decide to leave. He has also been disbarred. Source: ABA
