Liverpool firm MSB Solicitors has launched disciplinary proceeding against lawyer Joe Chiffers after it surfaced that he had once sat at the helm of far-right extremist group British Resistance. The group, formed in March this year, has the stated mission to ‘reclaim Britain from our oppressors’ by taking a hardline stance on immigration and left-leaning policies. It’s Facebook page reads: ‘No foreign aid, no EU, no immigration. No more PC rubbish, no quangos, no foreign wars, confront cultural Marxism. Indigenous British people first.’ Prior to joining British Resistance, Mr Chiffer contested Liverpool Riverside in last year’s general election for the UK Independent Party (UKIP).
Hard-right sentiments
Mr Chiffer was president of British Resistance from its inception in March until his resignation in May. In videos posted during his tenure, Mr Chiffer says his personal aim is to ‘save Western civilization from destruction’ and to ensure that ‘indigenous British have the right to remain the majority in their homeland.’ Among the more extraordinary claims made by Mr Chiffer during his tenure as leader include the suggestion that Liverpool’s International Slavery Museum is an ‘instrument of psychological warfare’ that ‘guilts people into accepting mass immigration.’ Mr Chiffer has stood by his political convictions, despite the ongoing investigation by his employers: ‘I will not apologise for my political philosophy, which is in no way supportive of violence or racism,’ he told the Liverpool Echo, adding that he has always provided clients with the best possible service ‘irrespective of their personal characteristics.’ A statement from MSB reads: ‘[We] pride ourselves on being a socially liberal firm and the views expressed [by Mr Chiffers] are the absolute antithesis of what we stand for at MSB.’
