Although one tax controversy partner, Angela Wood, is not participating in the Minters exodus, she is leaving for other reasons and Maddocks has indicated that it might close this part of its practice. But there are thought to be another eight or so lawyers in the group. The three partners going to Minters are based in Melbourne (Carmen McElwain) and Sydney (Peter Poulos and Chris Kinsella).

Strategy

Tony Harrington, chief executive of Minters, said: ‘This is part of the overall service delivery strategy for our clients. The tax practice, in particular front-end and back-end advice and disputes work, is a key part of our strategy.’ Source: Lawyers Weekly
