The Robert Walters Salary Survey in Australia is suggesting that law firms will be raising the pay of strong M&A performers and seeking to recruit more.

Whilst 12 months ago, the survey showed up salary freezes and lay-offs, the current picture suggests that the M&A market has picked up. This could well be a forerunner of a better employment market. Talking of Sydney and Brisbane, Andrew Hanson, director of the legal division of Robert Walters, said: 'A sense of confidence returning to the market [and] hiring managers are starting to look for talented people.'
