Merger could create £82 million turnover firm

Browne Jacobson and Beale & Company are in merger talks in a move that could create a super firm of 1,000 people and an £82 million turnover business with offices in eight cities.

In a joint statement current rivals Browne Jacobson's managing partner Iain Blatherwick and Antony Smith, senior partner at Beale & Company, revealed: ‘We have been in discussions for some time and can now confirm that we have agreed heads of terms.’ Discussions are likely to continue for the next few months. They explained that the firms’ practice areas were highly complementary and that they believed there ws a strong strategic and cultural fit. ‘A combined firm would offer clear strategic benefits and deliver attractive long term benefits for all our clients and people by enhancing the breadth and depth of our legal services  in the UK, Ireland and internationally,’ added the statement.

Browne Jacobson is headquartered in Nottingham and has offices in London Birmingham, Manchester and Exeter. Beale & Company has bases in London, Bristol, Dublin and Dubai.
