Moscow sets daily rates for pro bono work

Moscow lawyers representing pro bono clients will be given the equivalent of US$124 a day under a decree signed by the mayor.

Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has put his signature to the decree which sets up a system for collecting an annual subsidy from the Moscow Bar Association from which pro bono lawyers will be compensated. An annual report will be delivered each year, according to the Russian Legal Information Agency. Lawyers will received rates equal to $12.50 for a basic consultation, $37 for filing a motion or giving a written consultation. The daily rate in front of executive and local authorities is $62, while the daily rate in a case is set at £124. A house call results in a $93 payment.
