Mueller team left behind high-paid WilmerHale partnerships

The team investigating possible collusion between Russia and the President Trump's election campaign were high earners at their law firms.

Financial statements released by the Justice Department reveal that Robert Mueller gave up partnership at WilmerHale - where he earned $3.4 million since the beginning of 2016 - to take the job as special counsel. He also made thousands of dollars from paid speaking engagements with engagements at Goldman Sachs, Citi and Ford Motor Co including $52,000 for a speaking engagement at Mexican bank Banamex. Other lawyers on Mr Mueller’s team were also highly paid. James Quarles, also from WilmerHale, earned more than $5.8 million as a partner whilst Jeannie Rhee, another partner, was paid more than $2 million. A third WilmerHaler, Aaron Zebley, earned more than $1.4 million.
