Norton Rose and Blake Cassels emerge as top Canadian law brands
Norton Rose Fulbright has taken the top slot, followed by Blake Cassels & Graydon in a survey of 249 Canadian general counsel, carried out by Acritas.
The top two appear to be pulling away from other Canadian law firms. Other top firms in the survey are, in order, McCarthy Tetrault, Stikeman Elliott and Fasken Martineau DuMoulin. Elizabeth Duffy of Acritas said that being a large Toronto firm is not enough anymore: 'Clients really want to work with a firm that they feel reflects their culture, their diversity, their aspirations, and their personality and their business ethos as well. So it’s a lot more complex and complicated now.'
Blakes had come top the year before, in 2013. And Norton Rose had, after a heavy marketing campaign, come first in 2012. The survey, which also included the views of 107 corporate counsel outside Canada. Source: The Globe and Mail
