Yelena Tischenko's arrest was reported by the daily paper Kommersant and again by the Russian Legal Information Agency. According to Kommersant, she is considered 'one of the key leaders of the criminal group created by Ablyazov'. 

Ablyazov has been accused by the Russian authorities of embezzling up to US$ 6 billon from BTA, according to Reuters. He also faces charges from Kazakhstan and Ukraine.  He had been given a jail sentence for contempt of court in England before going on the run. He was then arrested in France. Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine are all requesting his extradition. A hearing on the Ukraine extradition request is due to be heard this month.
