Bristol-founded law firm Osborne Clarke has boosted its European offering with the launch of a Hamburg office.

The office will be staffed by a newly-hired six-lawyer team – including four partners – which will be led by Christopher Torwegge, former head of legal of Hamburg-based trade and production group CREMER.Joining Mr Torwegge is partner Norbert Aust, former consultant and president of Hamburg University of Economics and Political Sciences, as well as former White & Case lawyer David Plitt and Isabella Niklas, who was at boutique firm WKN, reports Top Legal International.
Associates Thorsten Behle and Sebastian Stütze complete the line-up.

'Closed shop'

In a statement, Osborne Clarke's German managing partner, Stefan Rizor, commented: ‘The Hamburg legal market has traditionally been a closed shop, and given that around 10,000 companies have relocated to the city recently, year on year, some new competition is long overdue. We're going to be bringing our sector expertise to our new office, along with our business friendly, cost-effective approach that has proved so popular in other cities.’
The firm now has 34 partners active in Germany across its three offices in Cologne, Munich and now Hamburg.
