Pakistan lawyers protest 'targeted killing' of Shiite Advocate

Hundreds of lawyers have gathered in Karachi to stage a protest following the 'targeted killing' of senior lawyer Kausar Saqlain on Tuesday.

Karachi: lawyers 'targeted'

The lawyers stormed the gate of the Sindh Assembly, according to the South Asia News Network, and only dispersed after gaining assurances that strong action will be taken against the killers by the provincial assembly’s speaker, Nisar Ahmed Khoro.
The lawyers highlighted what they claimed was a total failure by authorities to restore law and order in Karachi following a spate of targeted attacks.
Police at the scene told the lawyers, who were trying to jump over the gate, not to undermine the sanctity of the assembly and advised them to constitute a representative delegation, who could be taken inside the assembly.
