Pay halted at KWM as administration looms

King & Wood Mallesons’ European arm has halted pay for approximately 100 staff as the embattled firm moves towards administration. Affected employees, most which are business services staff, were informed of the pay halt yesterday (3 January), on their first day back after the Christmas break. The firm’s most recent LLP accounts from February 2016 reported that the firm employs approximately 425 support staff across the UK, Europe and Middle East, in addition to 452 fee earners as of April 2015. However, KWM has been hemorrhaging partners and their teams since its efforts to recapitalise the firm failed late last year. A spokesperson from KWM declined to comment on the pay halt as a matter of employee privacy.
